Somalia’s Education Ministry Launches ALO for Learners with Poor Internet Connectivity

Somalia’s Ministry of Education has launched a new program to cater for the needs of learners with poor Internet connectivity.

The new program is to be known as Alternative Learning Option (ALO).

According to the education ministry, the new program ensures that all students now get an opportunity to learn.

Learning institutions in Somalia have been postponed as the country battles with COVID-19.

Consequently, learners are now forced to attend online classes.

Unfortunately, tons of students are unable to attend online classes because of the poor Internet connectivity.

ALO seeks to present the lessons through radio.

Education ministry has procured 17,324 radios equipped with flash drives to ensure that all school-going children everywhere in Somalia access the lessons.
