Somalia’s ERP Team Updates Finance Minister on Reform Progress

Mogadishu, Somalia – The Somalia Economic Reform Program (SERP) team on Sunday held a high-level meeting with the Minister of Finance, Bihi Egeh, to present progress updates on the government’s reform agenda.

During the briefing, the SERP team highlighted key milestones achieved since the program’s inception, underscoring improvements in fiscal management, public financial accountability, and revenue mobilization. The discussions also touched on upcoming priorities, particularly preparations for the Mid-Term Review, which will serve as a critical checkpoint for evaluating the program’s impact and aligning future strategies with Somalia’s development goals.

Egeh welcomed the progress report, reiterating the government’s commitment to advancing economic reforms as part of Somalia’s broader journey toward sustainable growth and financial self-sufficiency. He emphasized that ongoing reforms are essential in building resilience, improving service delivery, and restoring public confidence in state institutions.

The SERP team also briefed the minister on efforts to strengthen institutional capacity and foster collaboration across government agencies, development partners, and stakeholders. These measures aim to ensure reforms are not only implemented but also sustained over the long term.

The meeting reflects the government’s continued push to maintain momentum in economic governance, as Somalia works toward consolidating gains made since debt relief milestones and positioning itself for stronger domestic resource mobilization.
