Hassan Abshir Farah, a former Prime Minister of Somalia, died in Turkey on Sunday. Jama Mohamed, who is Somalia’s Ambassador to Turkey, confirmed the news on Twitter.
In his tweet, Ambassador Mohamed said, “Ex-Premier Hassan Abshir Farah died in Ankara on Saturday while receiving treatment.”
Ambassador Mohamed expressed his message of condolence to Farah’s family and friends while asking Allah to rest the soul of the former Somalia Prime Minister in peace.
Farah was 75 years old at the time of his death. He has been in an Ankara hospital over the last few weeks for treatment.
He served as Somalia’s Prime Minister from 2001-2003 under former President Abdikassim Salad. At one time, he was also the Mayor of Mogadishu.
