Mogadishu, Somalia – The Federal Government of Somalia has issued a strong rebuttal to allegations made by opposition figures on Wednesday, calling their accusations “unrealistic and detached from the current political reality.”
Minister of Ports and Marine Transport, Abulkadir Mohamed Nur, speaking in an exclusive interview with local media, dismissed the opposition’s criticisms and urged former leaders to move beyond “political posturing.” He called on them to register their political parties in preparation for the country’s first-ever direct elections.
“The government is focused on delivering the long-awaited democratic transition. We urge all political actors to engage constructively,” Nur stated.
He reaffirmed President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud’s legitimacy, emphasizing that the country is firmly on the path to a democratic transformation. “The march toward democratic transition is irreversible,” he said.
The comments come amid increasing political tension as Somalia prepares for a major electoral milestone that promises to reshape its political landscape through direct voting.
