The two chambers of the federal parliament will hold a joint session on Sunday, June 12.
Reports from Somalia indicate that legislators from the House of the People (Lower House) and Senate (Upper House) will discuss the country’s budget during the special session.
Speaker Sheikh Adan Madobe of the Lower House and Speaker Abdi Hashi of the Upper House have already written to their respective members informing them of this development.
The Council of Cabinet recently submitted the budget to parliament for approval.
This year’s budget, which stands at $918.7 million, is the largest in the history of the East African nation.
The Cabinet approved the budget on May 26, only a few days after President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud won the presidential elections on May 15.
