The Standing Committee of the Federal Parliament of Somalia has announced that the current recess ends on June 6.
Consequently, parliament is set to resume its business from June 6.
The announcement, which was made on Monday, is likely to lead to some confusion.
For starters, the National Independent Electoral Commission (NIEC) had announced intentions to appear before the federal parliament on May 27, 2020.
NIEC had planned to clarify several issues pertaining to the elections that the country is set to go through towards the end of the year.
Parliament has a busy schedule on its plate. First, it seeks to offer the country guidelines on the preferred mode of election for the 2020/2021 polls.
Secondly, it reconstitutes its seventh session at a time when the country is facing upheaval in the health sector courtesy of COVID-19, which has ravaged the country.
