Dr. Abdirahman Beileh, the Minister of Finance in the Federal Government of Somalia, has asked the League of Arab States for debt relief.
The minister made the request on September 1 during a meeting organized jointly by the Ministry of Finance and the League of States.
During the meeting, which took place virtually because of COVID-19, Beileh asked Somalia’s Arab creditors for more debt relief.
Dr. Beileh also took the opportunity to express gratitude to Ahmed Aboul Gheit, the Secretary General of the Arab League.
He thanked Gheit for the support the Arab League continues to extend to Somalia.
Furthermore, Dr. Beileh assured the participants at the meeting that his ministry remains committed to carrying out economic reforms in the East African nation.
