Somalia’s Finance Ministry Seeking New Ways of Improving Domestic Revenue Mobilization

Somalia’s Ministry of Finance held a meeting on Monday to discuss solutions that could help the country to improve domestic revenue mobilization.

The meeting was held at the ministry’s offices in Mogadishu.

Dr. Abdirahman Beileh, the Minister of Finance, chaired the meeting, which was attended by several senior ministry officials.

Dr. Beileh reiterated the critical role that domestic revenue mobilization plays in the country’s development ambitions and agenda.

Further, he called it a “key economic reform benchmark.”

For decades, Somalia has struggled to develop economically and fiscally. Lately, though, the government has made huge strides to change the public finance sector.

Its efforts have attracted praise from international donors and partners including the two Bretton Woods institutions, the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
