Mohamed Abdirizak, Somalia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, held a virtual session with the Atlantic Council on January 15.
Apart from Abdirizak, other people at the virtual meeting included Kirsten Fontenrose and Gabriel Negatu.
Fontenrose is the Director of the Scowcroft Middle East Security Initiative.
Negatu is the Africa Center Senior Fellow.
Africa Center and Scowcroft Middle East Security Initiative co-hosted the virtual meeting.
During the meeting, Abdirizak addressed wide-ranging issues touching on Somalia. These included security, elections, governance, and regional relationships.
While addressing his colleagues, the foreign affairs minister said that only Somalia is responsible for creating a better future for its people.
Other dignitaries at the meeting included Ali Sharif Ahmed, Somalia Ambassador; Lazarus Amayo, Kenyan Ambassador; and Nureldin Satti, Sudanese Ambassador.
