Somalia’s Former President Urges Immediate Help for Flood Victims in Afgooye

Shariff Sheikh Ahmed, a former President of Somalia, has asked for immediate assistance flood victims in Afgooye.

Ahmed made the request for assistance to Somalis of goodwill and the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS).

He made this appeal while speaking to members of the media on the ongoing floods, which have left devastation behind.

Ahmed was speaking as the leader of the Forum for National Parties (FNP), a coalition of opposition parties.

He confirmed that his coalition is committed to join efforts to mitigate the effects of the incessant flooding that has displaced thousands of Somalis from their homes.

He also directed his appeal to the leaders of the Federal Member States (FMS).

On Sunday, Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) said that the ongoing floods have affected more than 90,000 people in Somalia.
