Maryan Hassan, the chief trade negotiator for Somalia has announced her resignation, which is effective immediately.
Hassan made the announcement via Twitter when she accused several senior officials in the Federal Government of Somalia of “undermining her work.”
The previous administration under President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, who led the country between 2012 and 2017, appointed Maryan Hassan into her position.
Since then, she has earned the respect of her peers around the region and beyond by demonstrating her competence in every negotiation on behalf of her country.
Furthermore, Maryan has also emerged as one of the sharpest technocrats under the administration of President Mohamed Abdulahi Farmaajo.
Her resignation is bound to create ripples.
Until her resignation, she was the chief negotiator for the World Trade Organization Accession, which is directly under the Office of the President.
She has also worked as the Chief Legal Adviser to the Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia.
