Somalia’s Ministry of Information has mourned a veteran Somali journalist who died in London of suspected COVID-19.
Ahmed Abdi Nur died at a London hospital where he was receiving treatment for complications arising out of COVID-19.
The veteran journalist once worked for British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC).
Several top journalists in Somalia also offered messages of condolences to his family, friends, and colleagues.
They praised Nur for the mentorship he offered them in their professional careers.
According to the statement from the information ministry, Nur’s wife confirmed that he was diagnosed with COVID-19 close to 16 days ago.
