Somalia’s Interior Ministry DG Leads Strategic Review of NCC Communiqué Directives

The Director General of the Ministry of Interior, Federal Affairs and Reconciliation, Aidarus M. Hassan, convened and chaired a high-level technical meeting to conduct an in-depth review of the most recent National Consultative Council (NCC) Forum Communiqué.

The meeting brought together senior technical experts and departmental representatives within the ministry to assess the status of implementation and strategize on the directives that specifically pertain to the ministry’s mandate.

The session aimed to ensure that the ministry aligns its operations and policy priorities with the national agenda laid out in the Communiqué.

Key topics of discussion included official recognition of SSC-Khaatumo as a federal member state, intergovernmental cooperation, federalism implementation, local governance, status of Jubbaland State, and reconciliation efforts—all critical elements under the ministry’s jurisdiction.

DG Hassan emphasized the need for accelerated execution, enhanced coordination with federal member states, and transparent reporting mechanisms to track progress.

This meeting forms part of the ministry’s commitment to institutional accountability and responsive governance, ensuring that Somalia’s roadmap for peacebuilding, federalism, and national cohesion is effectively supported at the technical and administrative levels.
