The largest Internet Service Provider (ISP) in Somalia has announced intentions to shut down briefly to enable it to carry out maintenance services.
Hormuud Telecom made the announcement on the morning of Saturday, October 17.
However, the press release that it issued failed to mention when the actual shutdown is expected to start.
Furthermore, the ISP indicated that the shutdown would continue for “an unspecified” period.
Hormuud also promised to provide “backup” Internet services to customers around the country who need it “where possible.”
The firm urged its customers in the East African nation to “kindly bear” with the situation until the “problem” is resolved.
