Mohamed Abdirizak Mohamud Abubakar, the newly appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, is set to start working on Saturday, November 28.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs released a communiqué on Thursday, November 26 clarifying this issue.
In its communiqué, the foreign affairs ministry said that the plan was always for him to assume his duties officially from November 28.
Earlier this week, Abdirizak was sworn in by Speaker Mohamed Mursal Sheikh Abdurahman of the House of Representatives.
With the swearing in ceremony complete, Abdirizak has now been cleared to step into the office that was formerly held by Ambassador Ahmed Isse Awad.
He took over from Awad who was sacked by Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble for denying that Somalia would support Ethiopia in the ongoing war in Tigray.
