The newly constituted National Economic Council (NEC) of Somalia held its first meeting on Tuesday.
The council met under the leadership of Hassan Adam Hosow.
President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud recently reconstituted the council. He appointed Hosow the council’s new director.
Hosow also serves as the Economic Advisor to the Somali President.
During their meeting, members discussed ways of strengthening the role of the council, especially in formulating Somalia’s socioeconomic policies.
