Garowe, Somalia – In a move that underscores its commitment to building accountable governance, the Ministry of Finance of Somalia’s newly established Northeast State has successfully concluded a recruitment examination for two Budget Officer positions at Nugaal University.
The competitive exercise brought together 50 shortlisted candidates, each vying for an opportunity to serve in one of the most vital sectors of government — public financial management. The exam, organized under strict transparency standards, marked one of the first major steps by the Ministry toward professionalizing its workforce and ensuring merit-based hiring.
Finance officials said the recruitment process was designed to attract capable and ethical professionals who can strengthen the state’s fiscal systems, improve budget planning, and promote financial discipline.
The event also reflected growing confidence in local institutions like Nugaal University, which provided a neutral academic environment for the exercise. As Northeast State continues to build its administrative structures, this initiative signals a broader national effort to nurture competence and integrity within Somalia’s evolving governance landscape.
