The opposition Himilo Qaran Party, led by former Somali President Sharif Sheikh Ahmed, has voiced its support for an indirect elections committee established by Jubbaland’s President Ahmed Madobe.
In a statement released on Sunday, the party criticized the federal government for allegedly allowing federal member states to extend their mandates beyond the intended terms.
Himilo Qaran also cautioned against any federal government actions that could destabilize Jubbaland, warning that such actions would compromise both security and stability in the region.
The statement reflects the party’s concerns over governance and election processes at the state level, indicating ongoing political tensions within Somalia.
