Mogadishu, Somalia — The Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, in partnership with the Somali Petroleum Authority (SPA), is convening its Annual Review Meeting in Mogadishu from October 25 to 26. The high-level forum aims to assess the ministry’s 2025 performance, evaluate progress on ongoing projects, and define strategic priorities for the year ahead.
The two-day gathering brings together senior government officials, industry experts, and development partners to reflect on achievements and challenges in Somalia’s growing petroleum and mineral resources sector. According to ministry sources, discussions will center on production-sharing agreements, exploration activities, and governance reforms designed to attract responsible investment and ensure transparency.
Officials say this year’s review will also focus on strengthening institutional capacity, improving data management, and advancing environmental and community safeguards in resource extraction. The meeting comes at a time when Somalia is striving to position its natural resources sector as a key driver of economic recovery and job creation.
The Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Dahir Shire, is expected to open the session, underscoring the government’s commitment to sustainable development and inclusive growth through better management of the country’s energy and mineral wealth.
