The Minister of Women and Human Rights Development is in Tanzania to attend an international conference on female genital mutilation (FGM).
Minister Khadija M. Diriye traveled to Dar es Salaam on Tuesday for the 2nd International Conference on FGM.
FGM is a serious problem in Somalia.
While addressing the conference, Diriye emphasized the collaboration between the Somali government and civil society to end the practice in the country.
She highlighted the preparations Somalia has put in place to introduce laws that protect human rights.
Specifically, she listed laws that would protect the rights of women, children, and persons with disabilities.
