Somaliland and African Food Security Delegation Call for Stronger Agricultural Partnerships

Dr. Abdirahman Mohamed Abdillahi Irro, President of Somaliland, received a high-level delegation from African Food Security, a renowned international agricultural development company based in the United States, on Saturday.

The visiting delegation which represents African Food Security’s broad operations across multiple African countries, arrived in Hargeisa to explore investment and partnership opportunities aimed at enhancing food security and sustainable agricultural development in Somaliland.

During the meeting, President Irro highlighted his administration’s commitment to boosting food production, modernizing agriculture, and attracting strategic international partners to help build resilience against climate shocks and food shortages.

The delegation expressed strong interest in working with Somaliland’s government and local stakeholders to implement innovative solutions, including climate-smart farming, improved irrigation systems, and capacity-building for local farmers.

President Irro welcomed the collaboration, emphasizing that food security is a top priority for his administration. “This meeting marks a significant step toward meaningful partnerships that will contribute to the economic empowerment of our people and long-term stability,” he stated.

Discussions are expected to continue in the coming weeks, with technical teams from both sides preparing a framework for future cooperation.
