Senior military officers from Somaliland and Ethiopia have been in talks on finding ways of enforcing COVID-19 preventive measures.
The talks mostly center on the border regions that the two nations share.
General Zewdu Belay, the Commander of the Eastern Division of Ethiopia’s military, attended the meeting together with Somaliland’s Army Chief, Brig. Gen. Nuh Tahi.
In addition to the two, police officers from the two nations were at the meeting together with senior public officials.
Gen. Belay says the talks have a clear objective, which is to discuss the joint efforts the two nations have to put in to halt reckless crossing at the border to curb the spread of COVID-19.
On his part, Brig. Gen. Tahi said that the virulent disease has taken a heavy toll on developed nations hence the need for developing countries to work together to reduce its impact.
