Somaliland and Taiwan have agreed to establish close cooperation on the health sector.
Both sides agreed on this following a visit by Mohamed Haji, Somaliland’s Representative to Taiwan, to the best hospitals in Yunlin and Changhua.
Haji held further discussions with representatives of the Taiwanese government on the importance of forging closer relations on health matters.
During their discussions, Taiwan promised to help Somaliland to improve its health infrastructure while investing in and supporting the training of health professionals.
The agreement follows a recent announcement by President Tsai Ing-wen that her government would airlift Somaliland patients who need advanced medical treatment to Taiwan.
