The government of Somaliland has urged the Federal Government of Somalia to keep off the Berbera Port project that DP World is undertaking.
DP World, a company based in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), won the contract for the construction of the Port of Berbera into a world-class facility.
However, Mogadishu has been quick to express its unhappiness at the choice of DP World.
According to FGS, the UAE-based firm has become a threat to the unity, peace, and security of Somalia.
Somaliland has not taken the claims made by the government of Somalia lightly. It has reminded Mogadishu that the two are separate countries.
Hargeisa was quick to remind Somalia that Somaliland is a separate independent country with its own projects that do not need any approval from Mogadishu.
A terse statement from Hargeisa reminded Somalia that the people of Somaliland had never forgotten the massacre carried out against them from Mogadishu.
