Somaliland Briefs Foreign Diplomats on PM Barre’s Recent Visit to Las Anod

Mohamed Abdirahman, the Director-General of Somaliland’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, recently participated in a diplomatic briefing alongside Foreign Minister Abdirahman Dahir Adan Bakaal.

The meeting, held in Hargeisa, included diplomats from France, Canada, and the United Kingdom. The discussions focused on strengthening bilateral relations and reaffirming Somaliland’s commitment to obtaining international recognition.

Recently, Somaliland parliamentarians condemned  Somalia Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre’s visit to Las Anod, labeling it a “declaration of war” and urging the government to secure its borders and cease negotiations with the Somali administration.

According to sources, the foreign affairs ministry’s top officials briefed the international diplomats on PM Barre’s visit to Las Anod, which the federal government of Somalia labelled historic.

This diplomatic engagement underscores Somaliland’s proactive approach to international relations and its efforts to assert sovereignty amid regional tensions.
