Somaliland Cabinet Embraces Virtual Technology through Teleconferencing

Somaliland’s Council of Cabinet Ministers has opted to embrace virtual technology by holding its meetings through teleconferencing.

Under the leadership of President Musa Bihi Abdi, the ministers meet weekly via teleconferencing videos, as part of measures for curbing the spread of COVID-19.

Omer Abdi Abdillahi, the Minister of Health, said the government had installed COVID-19 control stations in all regions around the country and provided staff to monitor them.

According to Abdillahi, the reason for teleconferencing and setting up COVID-19 stations around the country with skilled personnel is to ensure public safety.

During the cabinet meetings, ministers are required to provide the latest reports from their departments and officers around the country.

However, the health ministry often dominates the meetings since it is primarily in charge of the COVID-19 situation in the country.
