Somaliland Cabinet of Ministers Discuss COVID-19 Mitigation Measures

Somaliland’s Council of Ministers met on October 8 to discuss COVID-19 mitigation measures in the country.

Recently, COVID-19 has ravaged Somaliland with hundreds of new cases and deaths reported by the health ministry.

President Muse Bihi Abdi chaired the cabinet meeting, which was the 80th of his administration.

Other important issues that the Council discussed include land disputes around the country and eviction of southerners from Las Anod.

Vice President Abdirahman Sayli’i also attended this virtual cabinet meeting.

As the Chairperson of the COVID-19 Preparedness and Response Committee, the Vice President updated the cabinet on the progress of the mitigation measures.

He said that the country had lost 28 people to the deadly disease over the last six days.

Sayli’i promised the cabinet that his committee would soon release a fresh set of guidelines designed to curb the spread of the disease countrywide.
