Mohamed Farah Abdi, a spokesman for Somaliland’s ruling WADDANI party, stated that the Ankara Declaration between Somalia and Ethiopia holds no relevance for Somaliland.
Speaking to BBC Somali, he emphasized that the agreement pertains solely to the bilateral relationship between the two neighboring nations, Somalia and Ethiopia.
He reiterated Somaliland’s distinct status as a self-declared independent region, maintaining that agreements between other nations do not affect its sovereignty.
However, he acknowledged that such collaborations and agreements between Somalia and Ethiopia are routine and part of their mutual interests.
