Somaliland has become the first region to conclude elections for the House of the People (Lower House) seats.
Delegates from the northern breakaway region conducted polls for the few remaining seats on Monday, February 21.
Consequently, Somaliland’s State Elections Implementation Team (SEIT) becomes the first regional committee to successfully conclude the polls.
Last month, Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble announced that the country had to conclude polls for all Lower House seats by February 25.
Somaliland has adhered to this directive, which followed the National Consultative Council (NCC) conference in Mogadishu, with a few days to spare.
