Somaliland has offered congratulatory messages to Dr. Lazarus Chakwera on his election as the new President of Malawi.
Ambassador Bashe Awil Omar, Somaliland’s representative to Kenya, sent the message on behalf of the government of President Musa Bihi Abdi.
President Chakwera was declared the winner following a rerun ordered by the Supreme Court of Malawi after annulling the results of the first round of elections.
Ambassador Omar said, “It gives me great pleasure to congratulate President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera for being elected the new President of Malawi.”
The Ambassador also wished President Chakwera “good health and success” while leading Malawi into the future.
He reaffirmed his hope that the two nations would work together closely for the prosperity of their people.
