The Somaliland National Electoral Commission (NEC) has taken a significant step in enhancing the electoral process by handing over 50 IRIS Biometric registration kits and 50 expert trainers (TOTs) to the National Army Reform & Registration Committee.
This committee was recently appointed by Somaliland President Abdirahman Mohamed Abdillahi Irro.
The use of biometric technology is aimed at improving the accuracy and integrity of voter registration, which is crucial for ensuring fair and transparent elections.
The involvement of expert trainers indicates a commitment to building local capacity and ensuring that the technology is used effectively. This move is part of broader efforts to modernize and reform the electoral system in Somaliland.
