Farmers in Somaliland have received a donation of 300 beehives from the official Turkish development aid agency.
The Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) donated the beehives to the farmers on Wednesday, November 4.
The beehives are to benefit farmers in Hawd.
While donating the beehives, TIKA sent its representatives to train the farmers on modern beekeeping techniques.
A statement from TIKA indicated that the donation includes 300 Langstroth beehives, honey extractors, and protective materials.
TIKA informed farmers that Langstroth beehives are easy to remove and inspect.
Turkey is the second-largest beekeeping country in the world. It has already supported the efforts of various bee farmers in Africa.
