The government of Somaliland has announced plans to halt the continuing hike in the price of basic foodstuff.
Dr. Saad Ali Shire, the country’s Minister of Finance, recently admitted to the Council of Cabinet that life was growing increasingly harder for the people of Somaliland.
Low-income families are the hardest hit group.
They are unable to keep up with the increasing prices of oil.
The ongoing increase in the price of essential food items has made the situation much harder and more unbearable for these families.
Dr. Shire admits that the government plans to halt the increase.
Some of these measures include exempting cooking oil, flour, rice, and sugar from taxation.
Additionally, the government has also injected 4 billion Somaliland Shillings into the agricultural sector.
