Somaliland Government to Resolve Row with Telecom Firms on Installation of Towers

The government of Somaliland remains committed to resolving the row it has with telecom firms on installation of towers around the country.

Abdillahi Sufi, the Minister of Telecommunication and Technology, announced this while addressing members of the Upper House on August 22.

According to Sufi, the government has set aside the order it issue suspending installation of new towers in major Somaliland cities.

He promised that the government would enact a new law governing the industry soon.

The minister answered a barrage of questions from the lawmakers, who grilled up on his plans for the telecommunications sector.

Sufi indicated that the government would introduce a new law limiting the use of social media to promote false news.
