The Somaliland National Electoral Commission (SNEC) has introduced the IRIS-BVVS biometric system.
The electoral body is expected to use it in the upcoming Somaliland elections.
This advanced system, which SNEC launched on Sunday, utilizes iris recognition for voter identification.
It seeks to improve the accuracy and security of the electoral process.
The introduction of this technology is intended to help prevent electoral fraud and ensure that each voter can be uniquely and securely identified.
Somaliland will use the technology in the elections earmarked for later this year in November.
