Somaliland Irked by Somalia’s Appointment of a New Red Sea Alliance Envoy

Somaliland has expressed anger at the decision by the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) to appoint a new Red Sea Alliance envoy.

On Thursday, December 3, the administration of President Muse Bihi Abdi accused Somalia of “attempting to destabilize the region.”

Somaliland’s anger occurred after President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo’s administration announced the appointment of a veteran radio journalist as the new Red Sea Alliance envoy.

President Bihi’s administration has informed the international community, the European Union (EU) and Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), of its displeasure with Somalia.

The reports it filed with representatives of the international community show that Somalia is “meddling with its internal affairs.”
