While speaking to the Israeli Broadcasting Corporation known as KAN, Somaliland’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Abdirahman Dahir Adan, emphasized that while the government is open to discussions on various matters, it refrains from speculating on topics not yet addressed.
He stated that countries interested in engaging with Somaliland on specific issues must first establish formal diplomatic relations by opening missions within Somaliland.
In recent developments, Adan addressed reports suggesting that Somaliland had been approached regarding the resettlement of Palestinians from Gaza.
He clarified that no such proposals had been received, stating, “I haven’t received such a proposal, and there are no talks with anyone regarding Palestinians.”
Somaliland, which declared independence from Somalia in 1991, operates with a distinct government and seeks international recognition.
The administration continues to advocate for formal diplomatic relations with other nations, underscoring the importance of mutual respect and official engagement.
