Hargeisa, Somaliland – The Government of Somaliland has taken a major step toward improving institutional transparency and coordination with the unveiling of a comprehensive Government Communications Strategy. The announcement was made by the Minister of the Presidency, Khadar Hussein Abdi, signaling a new era of streamlined and unified public communication across all state institutions.
The newly launched framework provides a centralized policy direction that guides how government ministries, agencies, and offices communicate with citizens, the media, and development partners. It establishes clear standards for messaging, consistency, and information flow—ensuring that all branches of government deliver coherent updates and speak with one clear voice.
Officials say the strategy is not merely about public relations but about fostering trust between the government and the people. By harmonizing the way information is shared, the initiative aims to prevent mixed messages and misinformation, particularly during times of national importance such as policy rollouts, elections, or crisis response.
The approach also emphasizes proactive engagement—encouraging institutions to move beyond reactive statements and instead focus on transparency, education, and dialogue. Ministries will now be required to align their communication plans with national priorities, ensuring that public messages reinforce shared objectives rather than competing narratives.
At the heart of the strategy lies the government’s guiding principle of “One Aim and One Voice.” This reflects an effort to strengthen institutional coherence, unify public messaging, and demonstrate collective accountability. It is also expected to bolster Somaliland’s image internationally by presenting a more consistent and credible narrative to global partners and investors.
With this policy framework in place, Somaliland’s leadership hopes to build a culture of openness and coordination within public service—laying the groundwork for a more informed citizenry and a more confident government.
