A Somaliland legislator has welcomed the plans by Ethiopia to invest in Saylac Port.
Mohamed Abib, a Member of Parliament (MP) in the House of Representatives, welcomed the recent announcement by Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed regarding Saylac Port.
A few days ago, Prime Minister Ahmed said that Ethiopia needs to access the sea.
He added that as a landlocked nation, Ethiopia needs to access the seaport peacefully to avert unending conflicts in the region.
Abib’s comments are likely to cause a bit of commotion.
Somalia has already rejected such intentions by declaring that Ethiopia would be violating its territorial integrity.
However, Abib indicated that the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has invested heavily in Berbera Port without compromising Somaliland’s integrity.
