Hargeisa, Somaliland – The Minister of Interior and Security, Abdalle Mohamed Arab, delivered a detailed briefing on the national security situation during the 37th Session of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Somaliland, held on Wednesday at the Presidential Palace in Hargeisa. The session was chaired by the Vice President and Acting President, Mohamed Ali Aw Abdi.
Arab affirmed that peace and stability prevail throughout all regions of the Republic, noting that no significant incidents of insecurity have been reported in recent weeks. He highlighted that the overall political climate remains calm and that government institutions continue to function smoothly.
The minister also commended the progress of the Peace and Reconciliation Dialogues initiated by the President in Erigavo, describing them as constructive, inclusive, and vital to strengthening national unity. These dialogues, he said, are fostering cooperation among communities and consolidating the country’s long-standing commitment to peaceful coexistence.
However, Arab expressed concern over the growing number of road traffic accidents across the country, labeling the trend a pressing national issue. He urged all relevant government institutions to work collaboratively on preventive measures, improve enforcement of traffic regulations, and raise public awareness to safeguard lives and property.
The Council of Ministers lauded the report and reaffirmed the government’s dedication to maintaining peace, advancing reconciliation, and addressing emerging domestic challenges through coordinated and sustainable national efforts.
