Somaliland’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abdirahman Dahir Adan, has voiced strong concerns over a controversial Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Ethiopia.
Speaking on Monday, he highlighted the fact that he had not reviewed the document and raising questions about its implications.
The remarks come amid growing public debate and scrutiny of the deal.
In his statement, the minister firmly rejected any arrangement that could compromise Somaliland’s sovereignty.
He emphasized, “Selling our land to others for recognition does not make sense.”
He further stressed that Somaliland’s pursuit of international recognition would never come at the cost of its territorial integrity or its people’s right to self-determination.
These comments reflect the administration’s broader commitment to safeguarding Somaliland’s independence as it navigates complex geopolitical relationships in the region.
Public reaction to the MoU is expected to intensify as more details about the agreement emerge.
