On Tuesday, Somaliland’s Information Minister, Ahmed-Yasin Ali, expressed opposition to Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre’s proposed visit to Las Anod, calling it “a calculated political gamble.”
Speaking in Hargeisa, Ali warned that such a visit could ignite armed conflict and urged the Somali premier to focus instead on addressing Somalia’s post-election unrest by “following in the footsteps of his predecessor.”
