A minister in the Somaliland government has accused Ethiopia of being interested in annexing land instead of investing in a seaport.
Mohamed Hassan Saajin, the Minister of Commerce, said this on Sunday.
He becomes the first senior Somaliland minister to make utterances that are likely to be interpreted as being against the recent Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Ethiopia.
Somali government has already spoken out strongly against the MoU.
In the MoU, Somaliland granted Ethiopia direct access to one of its seaports. In return, Ethiopia would become the first African nation to recognize Somaliland’s independence.
