Somaliland has officially opened its Representative Office in Taiwan on Wednesday, September 9.
The opening ceremony took place in Taipei, which is Taiwan’s capital.
Mohamed Hagi, the newly appointed Somaliland Representative to Taiwan officiated the opening ceremony.
Joseph Wu, Taiwan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, joined Hagi in unveiling the office.
The two leaders said that the new office is part of the ongoing efforts to strengthen diplomatic relations between their nations.
Taiwan opened its Representative Office in Somaliland in mid-August.
The two nations have increased the call for international recognition. China considers Taiwan its territory just as much as Somalia does Somaliland.
Consequently, China and Somalia are against the increasing warmth in relations between Taiwan and Somaliland.
