This week President Musa Bihi Abdi of Somaliland chaired the 60th cabinet meeting during which it was announced that the country plans to start making oxygen for its hospitals.
During the latest cabinet meeting, it emerged that the country has a serious shortfall of oxygen for medical use.
To mitigate this, the government intends to import six oxygen production machines.
Furthermore, a press statement released earlier indicated that Somaliland had already obtained 410 oxygen cylinders.
The news is highly welcome in a country that continues to struggle with the COVID-19 pandemic that has ravaged its people.
Oxygen for medical use is necessary to treat patients diagnosed with the novel coronavirus.
With the expected arrival of the six oxygen machines, hospitals around the country would have no problem refilling their cylinders on time.
