Somaliland Pledges US$1 Million to Traders Who Lost Property in Hargeisa Inferno

Somaliland government has pledged to support traders who lost their property in a market inferno in Hargeisa.

President Muse Bihi Abdi of Somaliland pledged a donation of US$1 million to the traders.

Bihi was speaking in the wake of the inferno that razed business premises at the Waaheen Market in Hargeisa on the night of April 1.

The inferno left more than 2,000 traders without premises.

It also left around 28 people with severe injuries.

President Bihi pledged the funds during an inspection tour of the market on Saturday, April 2 in the company of several dignitaries.
