Somaliland Police Chief Defends His Officers from Opposition Accusations

The head of the Somaliland Police Force has defended his officers from accusations levied against them by opposition politicians.

Maj. Gen. Mohamed Adam Saqadhi, the Somaliland Police Commander, defended his officers from accusations by the leader of the opposition Wadani Party.

The police chief urged Hirsi Ali Haji Hassan, Wadani Party leader, to desist from maligning police officers in Somaliland.

He labeled the letter that Hassan wrote on police officers as “seditious.”

While defending the officers, Maj. Gen. Saqadhi accused the Wadani leader of committing major crimes while occupying public office.

Saqadhi said that the opposition leader had attempted to cause insecurity in the country before.

He reiterated that his officers will never allow unlawful demonstrations to take place anywhere in Somaliland.
