Somaliland’s Ministry of Energy has ordered power firms to reduce electricity prices for consumers around the country.
The energy ministry issued the order via a press statement.
In the statement signed by Jama Haji Mohamud Egal, the country’s Minister of Energy and Minerals, power firms have been ordered to support the government in providing cheap power.
The ministry reiterated that low electricity prices are essential for rekindling sustainable socio-economic growth in the country.
Furthermore, the ministry confirmed that it took this step in response to complaints received from the citizens of Somaliland indicating that the cost of electricity was too high.
Egal’s statement mentioned the companies expected to reduce electricity prices too. They include SEPCO, Sool Power, Telesom, and Aloog to mention a few.
