Somaliland President Accused of Hijacking Kulmiye Party

President Muse Bihi Abdi of Somaliland has been accused of hijacking Kulmiye Party and ensuring that officials act according to his wishes alone.

A veteran politician and one of the founders of the party, Mohamoud Hashi Abdi, made this stunning revelation on Wednesday.

Hashi revealed this during a press conference at the Ambassador Hotel.

Consequently, Hashi has vowed to stay out of the upcoming party convention, which usually precedes elections in the country.

Bihi was elected the President of Somaliland in 2017, which is also the time when he ascended to the pinnacle of the party as its Chairman.

Hashi said that nothing has diminished his ambition to be the Chairman of Kulmiye.

He mentioned that Bihi has hijacked all aspects of the upcoming convention to manipulate the process to allow the party to elect him Chairman and the Kulmiye’s only presidential candidate.

Nevertheless, the veteran politician has promised to continue fighting from within until the party’s leadership respects its constitution and traditions.
