Somaliland President Briefs Extraordinary Meeting of Cabinet on His Recent Historic Visit to UAE

On Saturday evening, President Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi Irro of Somaliland briefed the Somaliland cabinet during an extraordinary meeting about his recent trip to the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The purpose of the trip and the details of the discussions held during the visit were the focal points of his briefing.

While specific details of the trip may not be publicly available, such visits often involve discussions on bilateral relations, economic cooperation, investment opportunities, and regional security.

The UAE has been a significant partner for Somaliland, particularly in areas such as port development, trade, and infrastructure projects.

For instance, the UAE-based company DP World has been involved in the management and expansion of the Berbera Port, a key strategic asset for Somaliland.

President Irro’s briefing to the cabinet included updates on any agreements or memoranda of understanding (MoUs) signed during the trip, as well as potential future collaborations.

The cabinet meeting also provided an opportunity to discuss how these developments align with Somaliland’s broader economic and political goals, including its pursuit of international recognition and economic self-sufficiency.
